You told me you’d come around
You told me I didn’t have to run
All I had to do was be around
I keep my head up high
& my feet on the ground
I knew I could do better
But better wasn’t what I found
I wanted you to see me
Yet I couldn’t even get a clue
I wanted to believe in the better
& see tomorrow through

I couldn’t let go
& I couldn’t say bye
Cause when you said forever
I really thought we would be together
Until you left a letter saying good bye
I told myself to hold back
But the tears rolled
And my heart was about to unfold

Pouring my heart out
& having my body numbed
I felt as if we were nothing
Nothing but a broke song
I gave you my all
And my all was all I could give
I can’t keep giving you chances
And watching you walk out
I’m not just another toy
You can’t just pull my string
And expect me to run back
